Despite only arriving in Europe in the mid-1990s, Old Pulteney has always existed in the shadow of other, greater names. Yet it is well-deserving of the greatest of attention and respect, because this single malt made in Wick is thoroughly remarkable. The 17 Year Old version is one of the Highlands’ best single malts, beautifully melding the mellowness of sherry with the saline notes of northern Scotland’s sea spray. La Maison du Whisky is the exclusive importer and distributor in France for this great single malt.
Located in north-east Scotland, Old Pulteney is one of the most northerly distilleries on the mainland. Overlooking the North Sea, it produces a whisky that is significantly influenced by the surrounding untamed, maritime wilderness. This version manages to be both smooth and solid, characterised by notes of candied fruits, spices and leather, while simultaneously revealing its traditional salty personality.
