Made from Cabernet Franc grapes (88%) and Petit Verdot (12%), which were harvested from vineyards in the Jerusalem hills and aged for 15 months in French oak barrels. It is a complex and powerful wine, expressing the unique nature of the variety (rich fruitiness with generous notes of green and herbaceous peppers) combined with the characteristics of the French barrel. The wine has an excellent structure, balance and a finishing taste.
The best of the Israeli Cabernet Franc wines
Vitkin Winery is a family owned boutique winery, considered one of the finest in the Israeli wine industry, due to its expertise in the creation of original Israeli wines and thanks to its being a pioneer in its Mediterranean approach.
Since 2002 the winery produces quality wine from varieties such as Carignan, Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah, which were varieties that did not merit any attention from the local wine industry.
Today, having a firm basis as the foremost producer of Mediterranean varieties, Vitkin Winery continue to develop wines from new varieties such as Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Marselan and more surprises. The winery produces four series of wine: “Vitkin” Premium combining a variety of wines; the blended series “Israel Journey”; a series of “Dessert Wines” and obviously – “Shorashim” (roots in Hebrew) the elite series of the winery. Apart from two experimental vineyards planted on Kfar Vitkin soil, most of our vineyards are to be found in every corner of the country. Because of its uniqueness, Vitkin Winery enjoys a special standing among Israeli wine-lovers. From its earliest days and right until now, the winery has collected many awards, medals and prizes at various wine contests.
From the 2015 vintage the wines are kosher!
